My journey in medicine began as a medical intern at a hospital in Meru County, Kenya. The work was profoundly meaningful, particularly seeing patients from distant areas receive good quality care at our facility. Unfortunately, this experience also revealed challenges in our healthcare system. Many patients, especially those in underserved communities, have limited access to surgical pathology diagnoses. This type of diagnosis is critical for effective cancer management. We simply don't have enough pathologists to serve our growing populations. Digital pathology offers a powerful solution to bridge these crucial gaps in care.
